Way back at New Year, I promised myself I’d try and put more fashion related content on my blog – which is proving very difficult! Still, baby steps…
I love vintage shopping. I could spend days rifling through all the weird old stuff in the hope of finding a gem. It’s a whole new experience to normal shopping! (Although I’m still trying to get my friends to see the magic!)
I love that vintage items have had a life before you’ve owned them. There’s so much mystery in a vintage piece: where did it come from? Who used to own it? What kind of fun adventures, amazing parties, or perfect dates has it been on? It’s almost as if you don’t own it, but more that you’re a part of it’s story: that’s the excitement that I don’t ever feel with new, mass-produced things. And a well-selected vintage item can really make an outfit.
Most of the time, I don’t do much searching; the perfect pieces just catch my eye. My latest find are these snakes; which I discovered in a tiny little room above a cafe. They were a complete bargain for £12. (That’s the thing with vintage – its either fabulously cheap, or eye-wateringly expensive!)
They’re a gorgeous goldy/silvery mix and feel really sturdy and well-made. I’ve got a bit of a thing for snake jewellery and I’ve been wearing chokers a lot recently, so I fell in love with these immediately. Best of all, the bracelet’s small enough to fit my twig-like, baby bird wrists!
And let’s face it, who doesn’t enjoy saying ‘it’s vintage’ when someone asks where you got something? (*flicks hair*)
