V-Festival Playlist

I’m lucky enough to be going to V-Festival this August with two of my very best friends and I am super excited. We went together with some others at the end of GCSEs, and I had such a fab weekend that I’ve been itching to go again ever since.

V-Festival Playlist

My lovely friends – we look so young!

It’s only July, so I’m looking for a way to channel all my pent up excitement, and as I haven’t done a playlist in so long, I thought I’d do one of all the songs and artists I’m feverish to see. (I googled synonyms* for excited and to be honest, I am a little bit feverish.) It’s a cracking line up, it really is.

Where to start. . . well, I’ll be going to Hozier‘s set just for ‘Take Me to Church‘ – I bloody love it. It’s one of my favourite songs to sing along to when I’m driving, and I’d say I’m ready to share that with the wider world! I might pop into Mark Ronson‘s DJ set for ‘Uptown Funk‘ because, you know, that needs to happen.

The minute I saw Marina and The Diamonds on the line-up, I knew I couldn’t miss V-Festival this year. Marina is one of my absolute favourite singers and I am ridiculously, ridiculously excited to see her live. I can’t wait to hear ‘How To Be A Heartbreaker‘, ‘Primadonna‘, ‘Homewrecker‘ and you know, every song she’s ever released.

Last time, none of my friends knew who Paloma Faith was and I literally had to drag them to her performance, but now she’s a ‘special guest’ in big letters on the line up! I absolutely adore Paloma as she is such an incredible singer/performer/person and I cannot wait to hear her sing ‘Only Love Can Hurt Like This‘ and ‘Picking Up the Pieces‘ – they’re two of my all-time favourite songs. I hope she sings ‘Can’t Rely On You‘ and ‘Trouble With My Baby‘.

Sort of miss my brown hair . . .

I won’t lie, Olly Murs is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. I think he’s adorable, and don’t care what anyone says, I’m seeing his set! I don’t know if he could sing ‘Up‘ without Demi Lovato, but I’d love to hear it live, as well as ‘Wrapped Up‘ and all his classics.

Calvin Harris‘s set last year was probably the highlight of my whole weekend (except maybe for McFly. . .) and it was such a brilliant ending to the festival, so I’m SO HAPPY that he’s headlining on the Sunday again at Chelmsford this year! I mean, ‘Summer‘ was just written for drunk festival dancing, and imagine how good ‘Pray to God‘ and ‘Blame‘ would be! I cannot even tell you how good it was in 2013 – seriously, I’ve got that weird excited fizzing feeling in my knees just thinking about it!

V-Festival Playlist

Awful picture – but Calvin Harris was just incredible

Another one of my favourite memories from last time is from The Script‘s set. They really are brilliant performers, and when they sang ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved‘ everyone sang along. It was just such an amazing experience to be belting out such an iconic song with thousands of other people – I remember getting quite emotional!

Sam Smith. Sam Smith. Who doesn’t love Sam Smith? I will cry if he doesn’t sing ‘I’m Not The Only One‘ and ‘Stay With Me‘. . . like, he definitely will, won’t he? He can’t not. And then a bit of ‘Like I Can‘ to perk it up again!

We were at the very front for McFly. I was excited.

Since I got my ticket, they’ve also announced Scouting for Girls are playing too! ‘Posh Girls‘ is my ANTHEM (which is funnily enough what I shouted when I heard them playing it last time – I got some funny looks). And I love a bit of ‘She’s So Lovely‘, ‘Elvis Ain’t Dead‘, ‘Famous‘ and ‘Millionaire‘ – turns out I’m a big fan. Never would’ve said that, to be honest. But there we go.

The Dance Tent. Oliver Heldens. ‘Koala‘. ‘Gecko‘. That’s all I’m saying.

There are loads of other great artists on the line-up, like Ella Henderson, Ellie Goulding, George Ezra and Jess Glynne, but this is just a selection of my absolutely must-sees! I’M SO EXCITED.

Are you going to any festivals this year? Or who would you love to see live?

*Don’t lie, you’ve done it too! And if you haven’t, you should try it because it’s really damn useful when your brain stops working.
