Along with bold red, another lip look you’ll regularly see me rocking is nude lips. I’ve loved them ever since I saw the front of Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale album, although she’s wearing a slightly more pink nude than I usually go for. Recently, the nude lip look took the beauty world by storm with the ‘Kylie Jenner nude lip’ mania (because you can’t mention nude lips without mentioning her), and we don’t seem likely to get over it any time soon. Seeing as it’s so popular, I thought I’d share my Top 5 products for Nude Lips (with no Velvet Teddy in sight!)
Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Pencil in Nude Perfection
My ultimate, go-to nude lip product has to be the mighty Maybelline Colour Drama Lip Pencil in Nude Perfection. I rave about these babies all the time on here, and with good reason – they are the bomb. They’re highly pigmented, easy to apply and really long lasting. I wear Nude Perfection by itself, or as a lip liner for my other nude lipsticks. Either way, it works a treat.
Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in Crème Brûlée
Revlon’s Colourburst Lip Butters have less in the way of pigment, and more in the way of sheen. Crème Brûlée gives a less fussy, nude tint to the lips which, while not as long lasting as some of the others, is surprisingly moisturising. This ones more of a summer shade, for when you’re in a bit of a rush but still want a little something on your lips.
Soap & Glory Sexy Motherpucker Lipstick in Super Nude
This Sexy Motherpucker Lipstick from Soap & Glory is currently my favourite pairing with Nude Perfection. It’s super pigmented and long lasting, giving a matte finish without being drying. I wear it when I’m going for a stronger, statement nude – which is nearly everyday at the moment! Plus, I’m obsessed with the gorgeous little S&G imprint.
Another favourite for a statement nude lip is 03 from Kate Moss’s Lasting Finish Lipstick collection for Rimmel. (You can tell it’s a favourite by how much I’ve used it!). It’s slightly more beige than Super Nude, and actually very close to my natural lip colour. It looks gorgeous paired with Rimmel’s Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob.
Maybelline Coloursensational Lipstick in 725 Tantalizing Taupe
Maybelline’s Coloursensational Lipstick in 725 Tantalizing Taupe is very similar to Revlon’s Crème Brûlée, but slightly lighter in colour with less in the way of shimmer. Again, it’s not as pigmented as some of the other lipsticks, but a slick of this in the summer looks gorgeous, and it’s a lot less maintenance.
17 Mirror Shine Lipstick in Nudist Peach [Bonus]
I couldn’t write this post without including the lipstick that really got me into nude lips. This little 17 number was, I think, the first lipstick I bought. I absolutely loved it, and it was my go-to nude for years. It has a special little place in my heart (and in my muji storage) so I can’t bring myself to throw it away, even if it’s well past it’s use-by date!
Plus 17 doesn’t do that amazing electric blue bullet anymore!
