Being an enthusiast for black liquid and pencil eye liner, I thought I should really get round to giving gel a go. For my first adventure with gel liner, I grabbed with Scandaleyes Waterproof Gel Liner from the Rimmel counter in Boots – for me, when in doubt, go Rimmel!
This range of gel liners comes in 3 colours: Emerald, Brown and Black. It’s advertised as a ‘waterproof formula’ that gives ‘up to 24hrs of rich, intense colour that doesn’t flake, smudge, smear or run.
I’ve always been worried about gel liner and how difficult it would be to apply. I shouldn’t have worried because this one is really easy and no where near as difficult as I was imagining! It even comes with it’s own ‘professional’ brush, which was fab as I didn’t have my own, that makes it simple to create both thin and bold lines. The only problem I’ve discovered so far is that I feel I have to clean the brush every time I use it, as its so much more effective without dried gel already on it.
The gel itself is smooth, creamy and thick in a highly pigmented black. It glides onto the eyelid and dries fairly quickly. Once it’s on, it isn’t flakey or smeary and doesn’t fade, chip or run during the day. And when they said ‘waterproof’, they meant it! This gel liner lasts so much longer than any of my previous liquid liners, and is near-impossible to get off without a good make-up remover.
I wasn’t loving the cardboard packaging that I picked up in store, but I am obsessed with the gorgeous, dinky little pot that came inside – it’s so pretty! When I first opened it, the gel inside looked so perfect I almost didn’t want to use it.
Overall, I’m really impressed with the Scandaleyes Waterproof Gel Liner; the blackest black colour, easy to apply, and once its on: its not going anywhere!
What are your favourite gel liners? Anything I should try next? Let me know!
