I have a confession: I am a beauty blogger, and until this purchase, I didn’t own a single MAC product! I’ve always been happy bumbling around Boots for my beauty buys as I hate buying makeup online, unless I know exactly what I want. Whenever I venture somewhere with a MAC store, I’m always nervous about going in – I’ve heard some bad things about some of their staff from the blogging community! When I went to Westfield though, I couldn’t resist it any longer. I elbowed my way through the crowds, and bought my first ever product!
I wanted my first MAC buy to be something I knew I’d love, so I picked up a Rebel lipstick. I’ve been admiring this lippy for a while on other people’s blogs, and I’m loving statement lips at the moment. ‘Seasonal makeup’ isn’t really something I’m into, so despite it being spring and Rebel being an Autumn favourite in the blogging community, I bought it anyway! (You know, ’cause I’m a rebel and all…)
Personally, I found the staff at Westfield’s MAC store to be nothing but lovely, friendly and chatty. Someone quickly came over to help me choose a lipstick, and she showed me several other gorgeous shades that were similar to Rebel. So if you dislike some MAC staff, go to Westfield!
On the subject of MAC lipsticks, I’m actually pretty confused about the whole Velvet Teddy obsession. I swatched it in store, and I won’t deny that it is a pretty shade. However, it’s also not a shade that would suit everyone! If you wanted Kylie Jenner lips, MAC has a huge range of beautiful nudes – wouldn’t you want the one that suited your face best, rather than the one that suits Kylie Jenner? I definitely want to get a nude MAC lipstick, but I will take the time to swatch all the colours, and choose which one is my favourite. If I’m going to shell out £15 on a lipstick, I want it to look fab!
I’m really pleased I bought Rebel, I love it! And I know I’ll be back for more MAC before long…
