I last mentioned Missy Higgins in my ‘Top 25 Most Played’ Playlist, when I said I might dedicate a whole playlist to her sometime soon. Well, sometime soon is here, and I’ve created a playlist of my top 10 Missy Higgins songs that you need to listen to.
In case you didn’t read my other post, Missy Higgins is an Australian singer-songwriter, who I discovered when I lived in Tasmania. She’s one of my all-time favourite artists, and I can’t believe she isn’t better known in the UK. Her music is absolutely beautiful; most of it’s just guitar, piano and her amazing voice. She writes the most gorgeous lyrics, both heartfelt and heartbreaking. They’ve all got stories, like all the best songs do. I used to sit in my bathroom (the acoustics were better) with my sister’s guitar and sing her songs for hours.
1. Steer – On A Clear Night [Play]
2. They Weren’t There – The Sound of White [Play]
3. Where I Stood – On A Clear Night [Play]
4. Scar – The Sound of White [Play]
5. Hidden Ones – The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle [Play]
6. The Special Two – The Sound of White [Play]
7. Sweet Arms of a Tune – The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle [Play]
8. Set Me On Fire – The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle [Play]
9. Ten Days – The Sound of White [Play]
10. Sugar Cane – On A Clear Night [Play]
These are just 10 of my very favourites, I’ve got 32 of her songs on my iPod and I love them all. And there’s ones I probably haven’t discovered yet, which I’m sure are equally amazing. I cannot go on about her enough, she’s absolutely incredible and you have to give her a listen (because then you’ll like her, and eventually lots of other people will too, and she’ll bring a tour to the UK and I’ll finally get to see her live)
Or maybe I just love her so much because she reminds me of the place on the other side of the world that still feels like my second home…
Seriously, let me know what you think of her music!
