Stay Fresh Foundation – fights make up meltdown
£9.99
Recently, I’ve been looking for an alternative to my Benefit foundation, as it’s pretty expensive now that mum’s not buying it for me! I’m very picky about my base, and live in fear of having an orange face/rogue spots/oxidisation etc.; once I’ve found a product that works, I’m reluctant to try anything else! But I’ve heard some really good things about the L’Oréal Infallible 24H Foundation, and as it’s less than half the price of Benefit, I thought I’d be brave and give it a go.
I have to say, I am seriously impressed! The first thing I noticed was actually how nice it smelt. I can’t quite place what it exactly smells of, but it smells good. (My sister thinks it smells of the powder our grandma used to use.)
The colour is very yellow based, unlike my more pink-based Benefit foundation. I definitely prefer the tone of the Infallible foundation. I chose the 120 Vanilla shade, which is an excellent, nearly perfect, match for my skin tone.
The coverage is brilliant. I prone to reddish patches on my face, and regularly get spots. After two layers of this foundation, my skin looks almost flawless! Its quite thick and easily build-able: one layer gives a medium coverage, two layers a thicker, yet not cakey, coverage. Normally with foundation, I mix it with a green primer to combat any facial redness but I have yet to reach for it with Infallible!
When I can, I always prefer to use my fingers for applying make-up; but I would definitely say to apply this with a brush. Because of the consistency of the foundation, the coverage is more even and smoother using a brush.
Another tip is to apply your concealer before this foundation! Usually, I apply concealer after, but this foundation dries pretty quickly (which I liked) and it’s difficult to blend the concealer over the finish. Plus, I prefer my under-eye concealer to be a few shades lighter than my foundation, and with the difficult blending this looks really odd over Infallible, so I have to re-apply the foundation over the top of the concealer, so it’s just best to apply before.
This foundation lives up to its ’24 Hour’ name. As an example, last Saturday I had a super-busy 24 hours – perfect time for testing! I put it on at 8am (with powder) and only needed a tiny touch up on my chin and forehead at around 11pm at night, before I saw a mate. I didn’t take my make-up off before sleeping (yes, my skin is now breaking out in a major way) and even when I woke up in the morning around 10am, I would have happily gone outside, if I hadn’t had a bad case of panda-eyes. Again, I was seriously impressed!
I’ve often had a bit of problem with oxidising foundations and orange patches after a day of wear, but there was almost no trace of this with Infallible; even after over 24 hours of wearing.
This might even be my new go-to foundation . . .
Do you already use this? Or are you going to try it out? Let me know what you think!
Panda Eyes xx
I used to love this foundation. However I stopped using it as it started to go all clumpy in the bottle and didn’t sit well on my face. Great post xx
