It seems to be the thing to start a June Favourites post with ‘I can’t believe it’s July already’ but, to be totally honest with you, I can believe it’s July already! I’m writing this post in my garden, it’s an amazing 23 degrees (it’s 5pm!) and I’m wearing a maxi dress. Summer has come to Britain, people.
And with the arrival of summer comes the arrival of my first monthly favourites post! I always felt like a month wouldn’t be enough time for me to get a favourites post together, but when I actually got down to choosing stuff, there was so much I could include! Monthly favourites might just become a regular thing on Peppermint and Panda Eyes.
Benefit Roller Lash
I raved about Roller Lash ages ago, when I got the free sample in Elle magazine. It was only this month that I got around to buying the full-sized version, and it’s still the best mascara going. The packaging is just adorable, and it just does such amazing things to my eyelashes! It’s definitely replaced They’re Real as my go to mascara.
Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts Bronzer in Summer of Love
I got a huge Makeup Revolution haul this month (which will be up soon!). I picked up lots of things I’ve been lusting after, including this Blushing Hearts bronzer. It’s absolutely gorgeous! It’s the perfect colour for my skin and it makes me feel like a bronzed goddess when I wear it. As it has just a hint of shimmer, it gives my face such a natural and healthy glow. I’ve been using it everyday since I bought it, and I’ve already recommended it to all my friends: you just know it’s good when I’m throwing it at them!
Super Facialist Salicylic Acid Purifying Cleansing Wash
I actually nicked this face wash from my sister’s bathroom, as I ran out of Dark Angels this month. However, this has quickly become one of my favourite face washes. My skin has never looked so clear, brightand healthy – I am almost completely spot-free! I even think it’s helped fade some of the scarring on my face too. I think it’s all down to the skin-loving Salicylic Acid. I really want to try out some of the other products in the Super Facialist range now!
St. Moritz Instant Self Tanning Mousse in Dark
I couldn’t live through summer without my fake tan. I’m also not one for the light, ‘sun-kissed’ look – I’m all about that dark tan. At the rate I use it, I couldn’t justify spending £30 on a new bottle of St Tropez without checking out some of the cheaper tans on offer. I got a bottle of St. Moritz Instant Self Tanning Mousse for just under £5, and it’s perfect. It’s slightly harder to apply than St Tropez, as it has a habit of really sticking to those dry patches (after one eventful tanning session my elbows looked like they’d gone to the Bahamas and left the rest of my body behind!). However, with a bit of care and attention it gives a cracking, long-lasting, deep colour without a hint of orange.
MaxFactor Max Colour Effects Nail Polish
I hoard nail polish like you wouldn’t believe (current count: 72) and I have so many my favourites often get lost in the crowd. However, this month I rediscovered my MaxFactor Max Colour Effects collection and immediately fell back in love with them. The Max Effects formula is fabulous; they’re really quick-drying and last daaays before chipping, and the colours are beautiful!
My favourite of the bunch has to be Dazzling Blue – the colour is just gorgeous. It’s a bright turquoise blue that shimmers green when it catches the light – it’s hard to capture its beauty on camera. It reminds me of tropical seas, and I’ve been wearing it practically all month. It’s my ultimate summer shade! (You’ll have seen my raving about it if you follow me on Instagram)
Yankee Candle Votives
Almost every blogger seems to rave about Yankee Candles, but to be honest, I can’t be the only person who’s hesitant to spend £20 on a candle. I get bored of scents quite easily, but I struck gold when I was birthday present shopping for a friend. You can get Yankee Candle ‘votives’, for only £1.80 each! All you need is a little votive pot to pop them in, which only cost £2 on the Yankee website, and you’re good to go. They’re small, but they burn for around 15 hours. I bought Pink Grapefruit and Pink Sands, and I absolutely love them. Why buy 1 fragrance when you can buy 10 (or 11, to be accurate)?
